Alert Level 2 no obstacle for red-hot Christchurch auctions

Alert Level 2 proved to be no obstacle for Ray White offices across Christchurch last week as 10 properties successfully sold under the hammer for a combined value of over $6.9 million.

It has been a fantastic start to the year in Christchurch with internal data showing that Ray White properties scheduled for auction had achieved a 90.3 per cent auction day clearance rate.

The stand-out sale of the week came courtesy of Ray White Town and Lifestyle Salesperson Lewis Donaldson as he sold 5/14 Andover Street (above) in Merivale for $787,500.

“We had 45 groups through during an incredibly active campaign and that translated into four registered buyers on the day. We’re seeing a large number of buyers and not enough stock so that’s driving real competition,” Mr Donaldson said.

Another highlight came via Ray Metro Salespeople Bronwyn Williams and Jasmine Rohland as they successfully managed the $725,000 sale of Riccarton’s 21A Picton Avenue (above).

“It was mostly investors interested in this home and we actually had an international turnout with phone bidders from all across New Zealand, and over in Sydney too,” Ms Williams said.

Ray White New Zealand Auctioneer Ben East praised members for their dynamism and ability to pivot overnight when Alert Level 2 restrictions were announced.

“The agility of our members to react to restrictions is second to none and they are outstanding at making their vendors feel comfortable to still be able to take their home to auction,” he said.
