Ray White New Zealand entered a team into the 2013 Sky Tower Stair Challenge, led by CEO Carey Smith along with team members Wayne Maguire from Ray White Mission Bay, Cheryl Hayes from Ray White Whangarei and John Tanner, who owns Espresso Car Valet at Sylvia Park.
The Sky Tower Stair Challenge involved running up 51 stories of Sky Tower in support of the Leukemia and Blood Cancer Foundation of New Zealand. Both Wayne Maguire and Cheryl Hayes completed the 51 stories in just under 10 minutes, while John Tanner came in just over 12 minutes and Carey Smith ran the Stair Climb in 13 minutes.
Wayne Maguire from Ray White Mission Bay said that the Sky Tower Stair Challenge was extremely demanding. “The thought of taking on the Sky Tower and trying to complete the 51 stories in under 10 minutes was a goal that all the team members set out to achieve during the initial planning and training over the previous six weeks.” Cheryl Hayes from Ray White Whangarei, who was one of the fastest women to complete the challenge, said that it was a fantastic event and it was great being able to support such a worthwhile cause.
The Ray White team were awarded the highest fundraisers for the 2013 event and were also acknowledged as the highest fundraisers ever for the Challenge. Carey Smith and Wayne Maguire were the leading individual fundraisers.
Carey Smith said that it was wonderful to be able to engage the support of our Ray White members together with family, friends and other business associates. “While the Stair Challenge itself was personally something that we all enjoyed, it was the fundraising that provides the most benefit for the community and we are very proud to have been the leading fundraisers for the event.”
The results of the fundraising can be seen here. Also information on the individual fundraising can be seen on this page.
