Last week saw the Ronald McDonald House Charities Rotorua Supper Club 2017 raise a record-breaking $143,000!
For the eighth year running, the Rotorua Supper Club has been held at the Novotel Rotorua Lakeside. The glamorous event starts off with cocktails and canapés with live entertainment leading into the live auction which was run by Ray White Rotorua’s Auctioneer James Alexander who created competition in the room and raised the bar from last year’s $100,000 to a new record of $142,000. Ray White Rotorua generously donated a package to sell a house which sold for $24,000.
Supper Club organiser Rob Parry said the event showcased the best of what the Rotorua community was like.
He said while they went in hoping for a good total the final amount raised “smashed anything we expected. The amount raised is just out of the stratosphere.”
Mrs Angus described the night as “phenomenal! I was just amazed really at the support of the community for such a worthwhile cause.”
Her family had stayed at Ronald McDonald House Auckland when Stella was first diagnosed and said it was a “godsend.”
Ronald McDonald House Charities chief executive officer Wayne Howett said the amount raised was “a massive effort” and made it the most successful Supper Club to date.
“The Rotorua Supper Club has always been a great success, however, this year, through the perseverance of the team and the generosity of the Rotorua community, the event went above and beyond and raised more than any of our other Supper Clubs across the country, ever.”
Mr Howett said the event exceeded expectations and they were overwhelmed by the amazing support and generosity of the Rotorua community.
“The funds will go a long way in supporting families during their children’s medical journeys.”
Ray White Rotorua’s General Manager, Jacqueline O’Sullivan said ‘it was an awesome night with fantastic local support, it’s getting bigger and bigger every year, we just love supporting this night’.
All funds raised at this event going toward the operation cost of the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat in Rotorua.
