This week Ronald McDonald House, Auckland celebrated 21 years of providing a ‘home away from home’ for New Zealand families. Multiple events were held throughout the day within the Auckland House, culminating the evening with a celebration attended by families, supporters and volunteers. Also in attendance were Ronald McDonald, SpongeBob SquarePants as well as face painting and other entertainment for the children. Volunteers cooked a delicious dinner for all, finishing with two stunning birthday cakes which were donated to the House.
From humble beginnings 21 years ago, opening with just 10 bedrooms, Ronald McDonald House in Auckland now takes care of 80 Kiwi families each night; and over the last 21 years has provided support to more than 15,000 families from right across the country. The House will be expanding by adding a further 22 rooms which will be opening in the New Year. New Zealand’s Ronald McDonald House’s primary aim is to keep families together – because, as they say, “families are stronger together.”
Ray White are proud long-standing supporters of Ronald McDonald House (RMH) who provide a home away from home for families from all over New Zealand when their children require specialist medical treatment in another city.
Ronald McDonald House has three locations across New Zealand: Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Their primary purpose is to support families in their time of need by providing practical and emotional support. When a family faces the weight of a child’s illness, the best thing they can do is face it together.
