Remuera Salespeople Sponsor Carlton Cornwall Classic Fours

This was the second consecutive year that Ray White Remuera salespeople Margaret Simpson and Robin McDowall sponsored the ANZAC Day Open Classic Fours Tournament at Carlton Cornwall Bowls Inc in Epsom.

This year the annual, and much anticipated, event saw 112 participants (representing 28 teams) compete in what has come to be a highly regarded and popular tournament. The participants represent clubs from throughout the region.

“We were lucky with the weather for the tournament this last weekend. It was a bit chilly but the rain held off until after play on the Sunday and there was heavy rain all day Monday which was scheduled as the ‘Reserve Day'” says Robin.

Margaret Simpson and Robin McDowall are proud to present the prizes to the winners each year. The pair assist with prize money for the tournament winners, and generously ‘shout each player a drink upon conclusion of the event.   Their involvement with the club extends beyond this event as they are also major sponsors of the club – each year assisting with the production of the club scorecards and annual handbook.  “I’m only a beginner with respect to bowls but I am about to join the club as a member for the forthcoming year commencing in September” Robin adds.

Ray White Remuera business owner , Megan Jaffe was also present for the tournament opening which was accompanied by the reading of the RSA Ode, lowering of the flags and a minute’s silence.

“We were invited to stand out on a green (on a matt to protect the lawns). It was a great day, and everyone gave Megan a very warm and spontaneous welcome as well” said Margaret.

Carlton Cornwall is in idyllic setting adjacent to Cornwall Park, has well maintained greens, a great club house and has been selected as a venue for the World Masters Games which kick off in Auckland in 2017.
