Ray White New Zealand were proud to welcome a record number of members to the New Zealand National Conference, which this year was held at the SkyCity Convention Centre. Keynote speakers Alison Mau, Steve Hansen and Nigel Latta featured, together with Julie Ryan and a compliance presentation on health and Safety.
While the speakers are the main attraction for many, this year Ray White had 30 trade and partner suppliers at our conference. This display enables members to integrate the efficiency of our supplier network and gives high level exposure to our partner integration.
Keynote speaker Alison Mau commenced the day with a presentation that focused on the experience that a customer and client has when engaging with a real estate person. Alison drew the analogy of a TV presenter and how trust is built as a key part of her presentation. With the introduction of videos to the industry, Alison also gave practical advice on how to build an impression for the property that is marketed and to allow personal profile to become a value to video production.
Steve Hansen, current All Blacks coach, presented an interview style question and answer with Scotty Stevenson. The insights provided by Steve Hansen were on leadership, being present in the moment and also areas of vulnerability. The interview touched on World Cup experiences together with family life and also the personal impact of the earthquakes in Christchurch. Steve spoke of his connection to the community and the expectations of pressure that are accepted by the All Blacks team and management. Julie Ryan, Head of Elite Development, presented on capacity. Her presentation was built around personal ambitions, how time can be a friend in the work environment. Julie also spoke of the need to prepare and how positive thinking plays an important role in personal success.
Nigel Latta is known to many through his Politically Incorrect documentaries. Nigel spoke of five key parts to the way our brain engages with decision making. He spoke of the stone age times and how we were very much hunters and gatherers. His humour connection was today about how people are more stressed when they cannot get their printer to work versus many millions of years ago, when they could not get food to eat. Nigel’s presentation drew relevance to how decision making on behalf of others is not natural and is a learned and trained process. His presentation spoke of training and re-training to achieve best outcomes in life.
