Ray White Russell get involved at the St. John’s Amazing Race

Amazing-Race

The team from Ray White Russell have been out in the community helping out at the third annual St. John’s Amazing Race.

With eight tests set up around around the Russell township, St. John’s volunteer teams used their skills, teamwork and clinical knowledge to complete the challenges.

The day began with a Haka before teams dealt with a range of scenarios from an ambulance driving test, to gunshot wounds, an unconscious heart attack patient, burning buildings and to top it all off a plane crash at Russell School.

Ray White Russell pitched in providing hot home made savouries, bacon and egg pie and pizza’s for all the 80+ contestants and support crew.

Locals who weren’t watching the teams at work could take part in CPR and first aid lessons or  watch the fire brigade douse simulated kitchen fires.

Though the event had huge interest, numbers had to be limited but organisers hope to expand next year, which will be hosted by this years winning team from Paihia.

Ray White Russell business owner Dianne Wynyard was more than happy to support the event “Being a voluntary organisation in our town, St. John’s is one of the very worthwhile causes we choose to sponsor whenever possible. Living in a country area the volunteers who run St. John’s are often called upon in the middle of the night. They always attend willingly and with a smile. They freely spend endless hours of their time up-skilling their training often travelling many kilometres to do so. On a personal note, the volunteers from St. John’s recently attended my husband at 2:00am on a holiday morning, if it hadn’t been for St. John’s, my husband would no longer be with us. Why do we choose to support St. John’s? Why wouldn’t we!”
