Ray White Orakei were proud supporters of the Orakei School‘s Charity Art Auction held on 14 November.
Each year the Orakei School PTA secure artwork to auction for the school, and this is the fourth year Ray White Orakei have co-sponsored the event. Over 60 artists contributed to this year’s event, and it was the first time the art auction offered both local and international artists’ work from both established and up and coming talent. – With such a variety of artwork donated, the auction offered something for all tastes and budgets.
Artwork, including an ‘Enquiring Minds’ exhibition produced by each classroom, was displayed at a Gala Evening event at the school, with the exhibition then open to the public over the weekend before the final auction. Ray White Auctioneer Wayne Macquire from the Ray White Mission Bay office stepped up to auction the art collaborations done by teachers and students at the event.
“The school were very appreciative of Ray White Orakei’s contribution and in particular Wayne Maguire’s outstanding auctioning skills which undoubtedly was the highlight of the evening.” says Graeme Fraser, Head of Agency Operations for Ray White New Zealand.
Early tallies show that the event helped in raising over $65,000 for the school – with the funds being used towards an overdue upgrade to their 76-year-old hall. “The Art Exhibition, is, as always, an enjoyable experience for art enthusiasts and is a great way of bringing the wider community together. Each year the event seems to grow in popularity with more artists wanting to get involved. With funds from this year’s event being used towards the much needed upgrade to the Orakei School Hall, which is regularly used by both the school and wider community for a variety of activities, we are certain many people will benefit from this initiative” says Mike Zelcer from Ray White Orakei.
“We take great pride in supporting the school, as it is a wonderful way to connect with the local community. There is nothing better than giving back or paying forward, however you look at it, it’s a great cause.” says Megan Jaffe, Ray White Orakei Business Owner.
