Over the long Queen’s Birthday weekend, Jane Meyer, Ray White South Island Business Development Manager, and her girlfriend Kelly Root hosted their own Pink Ribbon Breakfast to raise funds for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation (NZBCF).
Jane said, ‘Every year a group of friends support a charity event involving cancer, the last two years has been Relay for Life, but that was cancelled in Christchurch so we chose to do a Pink Ribbon Breakfast.’
For Jane, the NZBCF is very close to her heart with her mother, aunt, and cousin all losing their life to cancer. Kelly has also lost family members which made the motivation to host a Pink Ribbon Breakfast stronger. Jane and Kelly invited 25 friends for breakfast at Jane’s home, partners were the notable chefs dressed in pink, creating a sumptuous breakfast of: posh porridge, bagels with ham and salmon and cupcakes made by Jane’s daughter Kylie.
The ladies had lots of fabulous items donated, with beautiful baskets of goodies for raffles and other items contributed to a silent auction which altogether raised a whopping $1,070.00.
Jane and Kelly’s guests said that they loved the really girly breakfast and felt very spoilt with the lovely goodie bags to take home…a very special morning rendering those lost.
