Tony McPherson and the team at Ray White Metro originally joined the Ray White Group in January 1998. Initially, the move for Tony progressed from a single office to a company that now spans over 60 members with a significant sales and property management business. Upon re-committing to the Ray White Group, Tony McPherson said, the greatest strength of the company revolves around the group’s leadership strategic plan, linked to the systems through the lead generation system, and relationship model.

Tony said the Canterbury market has had significant challenges which everyone is aware of, the proudest moment has been the ability of all the Ray White Metro team to recover, post the earthquakes, and to be able to grow the business substantially. All of our business partners and shareholders continue to drive the business forward, and in re-committing to Ray White we have done so as a team. My business partners are very important to the success and they include, Vanessa Golightly, Lorraine Porter-Bishop, Dave Findlay, Linda Rogers, Richard Withy and Jo Rogers. Ray White Metro is where it is today because of our team. We have all been able to face adversity and collectively help our community to position the business in a stronger position today than it has ever been.

Following this announcement, we asked Tony McPherson, Business Owner of Ray White Metro a few questions about his business and career in real estate, here’s what Tony said…

When did you enter the real estate industry? I started in 1989.

When did your office join Ray White? Both personally and my office in January 1998.

During those years what have been the major changes you have seen in Ray White New Zealand? The move from joint United branding to Ray White, the growth of the business through recruiting existing offices and establishing new offices and becoming a genuine nationwide business, now positioned to take market leadership.   

How has your business changed over that time? It has evolved from a single office into expansion mode from 2003, mainly through joint ventures to seven sales and one property management office.

What is the Ray White Group greatest strength or point of difference? The group’s leadership, strategic plan, software and systems to implement the relationship model.

What do you enjoy/value most about Ray White? Being part of a progressive and growing family organisation who understands what value is to clients.

What has been your proudest business moment owning your Ray White office? The recovery of our business post the earthquakes in Christchurch.

What is your average sale price? $480,000.

What is a typical sale for your office i.e. type of property? Single dwelling houses.

Do you have property management? Yes.

If you have property management, how important is this to your business? Property Management is extremely important, it is part of our strategy to provide a range of services to our clients which now includes LoanMarket and Insurance.

What community work do you align to in your market? Our community partner is Ronald McDonald House.
