On the 8th March 2015 Ray White City Apartments and Supercity Rentals combined forces to enter a team of 10 runners in walkers in the Annual Ports of Auckland Round the Bays.
Ports of Auckland Round the Bays is co-owned by Fairfax Media and the Auckland Joggers Club. The event was started by the Auckland Joggers Club in 1972 with 1,200 participants, and has grown in 43 years to more than 40,000 people participating every year. This year’s event was the 43rd anniversary of the race, which is one of the world’s largest fun runs and New Zealand’s largest mass participation sporting event.
The run is 8.4km long over a flat course that follows the contours of Auckland’s Waitemata harbour. It begins in the city on Quay Street and finishes on the waterfront at St Heliers Bay.
This year over $160,000 was raised in the Ports of Auckland Round the Bays – which will be shared between the eight charities supported by the event this year – including: Auckland Down Syndrome Association, The Auckland Neonatal Trust, Barnardos, Fairfax First Books, Kenzie’s Gift, Shine, Stuttering Treatment and Research Trust and Waiheke Health Trust.
The Ray White City Apartments and SuperCity Rentals team not fundraised and competed in the event, but also had a full team on standby at the finish line to support all participants – by way of the Ray White marquee with picnic blankets, water bottles and beach balls which helped to make the most of a fun day out.
Delanie Horrobin says that “The Round The Bays was a great success in not only bringing our team together yet it also allows us a chance to really contribute and support the many charities that benefit from the run. We are looking forward to competing in next years event with an even bigger team.”
