Ray White Russell are heavily involved in their community, recently supporting the end of year Russell Kids Fishing Competition on Thursday, 28th December 2016.
The Russell Kids Fishing Competition is in its third year running of the bi-annual event, also hosting another kids fishing competition at Easter weekend.
Thursday, 28th December was a glorious sunny day, approximately 150 children, plus their parents, siblings and grandparents participated in the event starting at 10:00am. Children were in age categories 0 – 5yrs old (yes, very young children participated), 6 – 11yrs and 12 – 14yrs, all of the kids surrounded the wharf for one hour of fishing 10:00 – 11:00am. Once the hour was up and fish were caught, the large crowd filled the town for the highly anticipated prize giving 12:00pm – 1:00pm which had so many amazing prizes up for grabs, including; vouchers from various businesses around town, fishing rods, tackle boxes, t-shirts and fishing equipment such as nets, hooks/sinkers etc. Marni Wynyard said, ‘The prize giving was an absolute buzz, some of the little ones had difficulty carrying their prizes!’
Every entrant received a sausage sizzle, bottle of water and an ice block.
This fun filled day was finished off with a lolly scramble for all. Dianne Wynyard, Business Owner for Ray White Russell manned the BBQ and said, ‘It was a fantastic day, many smiling faces and lots of happy families. It was a kids fishing competition but the adults had just as much fun too. Visitors and local children standing side by side enjoying old-fashioned fun!’
