Earlier this year, the popular playground next to Barrington Mall was destroyed in an arson attack. With no funding left in the council budget to go towards the playgrounds renewal, it looked as if a repair wouldn’t be complete until 2021.
The team at Ray White Barrington heard the news and decided to get involved.
Setting up a page on Givealittle.co.nz, promoted through Facebook, along with a collection box at their office – the team raised just under $7,000 to go towards the new playground. With the attention gained, additional funding was put forward through local community groups; all in all raising over $20,000 for the rebuild.
The Ray White Barrington team said that with the playground being so close to home they were proud to be involved in the fundraising, and were grateful to all in the community who got behind the cause.
