Last week saw Ray White New Zealand host the second annual Landlord Event in over 70 locations across New Zealand from Kaitaia right down to Invercargill. The events are a significant component of the national property management calendar and are designed to help educate the public in all areas of the tenancy space.
This year saw huge demand for the information and resources provided, with around 3,500 landlords and investors attending various events on the night.
Ray White New Zealand’s Head of Property Management, Zac Snelling, said, “The Landlord Event is one of the biggest nights of the year for our property managers and we love to engage with the community to help those attending become better landlords with our free education and resources on what’s happening and what’s changing. It’s a fantastic team building exercise for our offices that really brings staff together to host something they can be proud of, and the success of the events this year speaks volumes for the amount of work everyone has put in”.
The 2017 event saw attendees receive comprehensive information guides on some of the key issues landlords are facing right now such as Health & Safety, Smoke Alarms and Insulation, Landlord Insurance and of course, the newly released NZS 8510 standards on methamphetamine testing and decontamination.
The timing of the standards release was something that took the industry a little by surprise (6 days before the event) but it gave every office a fantastic opportunity to be the first major real estate group to educate the public at large on what these changes mean for landlords and tenants alike.
Each event also had its own unique local speakers presenting on topical issues that face our communities and our Kaitaia event even had a presentation from the local Mayor, John Carter.
Ray White takes pride in the education they provide to the public and these annual events are a key component of that. They are something Ray White members are proud to host and will continue to do so as long as there is an appetite from the public for this knowledge – and there clearly is judging by the engagement we continue to see.
Ray White offices throughout the country were thrilled at the response and it goes to show there is a clear need for landlords to keep learning and educating themselves in order to create better long-term outcomes for themselves and their tenants, something that Ray White are always happy to help provide.
