Located at 66 Great South Road, this building was previously known as ‘The Starlight Cinema” and also “The Otara Luxury Cinema” and was opened in 1957.  It was ahead of its time having an inhouse cafe and hosted a world premier movie by verteran director Rudall Hayward with feature film “To Love a Maori” in 1972.  Many locals remember their nights spent at the movies in this building not that long ago.
