Mike McRoberts who was born in Dunedin is well known TV Journalist who currently presents the 6pm news bulletin on 3 News. Mike McRoberts began his career in 1984 as a cadet at Radio New Zealand and then furthered his journalism career when he accepted a role with TVNZ in 1995 as a sports reporter. Is it after this role that he moved to TV3 and progressively took up a position which saw him reporting for the current affairs program 60 Minutes.
During his presentation to Ray White members he spoke about some of his reporting work in the worlds most dangerous places covering conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Gaza, East Timor and the Soloman Islands. He also spoke about his personal experiences when covering some of the worlds worst natural disasters including the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, the Japan earthquake and tsunami and more closer to home the Christchurch earthquake in 2010 and 2011. His message focused on the area of trust, team support and being able to utilize support peoples special talents. He made particular note of the way people respond under extreme circumstances and how they can change before, during and after these personal experiences.
Mike McRoberts today is the anchor for the TV3 news current affairs show Three 60, he presents 3 News with journalist Hilary Barry. Mike McRoberts published his first book “Beyond the Front Line” in October 2011.
