Ken Adam, principal of Ray White Te Anau, has recently been recognised with an International Rotary Club Fellowship for his tireless service in the community.
On receiving the Fellowship, Rotary Club of Fiordland assistant governor John Donaldson said “Our worthy recipient joined the club in 1987 from an address 30km out of town, but this did not deter him from regular attendance and participation.” During his time as President from 1991/1992 the catering caravan commended operation, the cemetery was tidied up, a number of young people were sponsored for exchanges and education trips, and relief resources sent to the Maldives. “In fact everything that could be done that year was done.” said Mr Donaldson.
Along with his work with Rotary, Ken was also extremely involved with the Northern Southland Veterinary Club, where he was on the executive for 30 years, including 16 years as chairman. During his time as chairman, he oversaw the building of a new clinic in Te Anau and another in Riversdale. He also supported the granting of the old Te Anau clinic as a youth centre. He was honored with a lifetime membership to the club in 2013.
Ken has also served, and continues to serve, in many other groups throughout the community. “Ken is currently Chairman of the Fiordland Community Shuttle, which he promoted and organised the purchase and payment. This is proving to be very beneficial for many in the community, particularly those having to attend hospital in Invercargill who have no means of transport.”
As principal of Ray White Te Anau, the office has also supported many community initiatives and groups, including the Te Anau Rugby Club, Te Anau Bowling Club, Te Anau Primary School, Fiordland Players, Make a Wish Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Destination Fiordland , and the Te Anau Tennis Club.
