This month Chris Nielsen from Ray White Burnside is taking part in Dry July – staying off the beers to support adults living with cancer.
Participants go alcohol-free for the month of July to raise awareness, and most importantly funds, for various projects across beneficiary cancer service organisations in New Zealand.
It’s an initiative with a twist as not only does Dry July improve the well-being of adult cancer patients by providing funds to create better services and environments for them and their families; but also helps the participants themselves get healthy while also raising funds for an important cause.
Starting in Australia in 2008, the non-profit organisation has grown to raise over $20 million across both New Zealand and Australia.
Chris says he’s sticking to the raspberry and cokes this July. “I’m proud to be supporting a cause that increases public awareness to adults living with cancer. We all know someone who has endured cancer and whether or not they are still with us, there will be another person going through the same pain in need of support. Supporting this cause is for me, both mentally and socially challenging but well worth the effort. Going booze free might even help me lose a few kilos and sleep better if I’m lucky.”
Dave Price, Ray White’s South Island Group Facilitator said “The team at Ray White Burnside have always been very community focused and this is just another example of a member of their team putting themselves out there for another great cause.”
