Double delight as online auctions power on in Auckland

It was a case of double delight last night as online auctions in Auckland defied the obstacles of Alert Level 3 with two properties selling under the hammer for a combined NZ$2,165,000.

“It’s fair to say that online auctions really haven’t skipped a beat since the reintroduction of restrictions in Auckland,” said Ray White New Zealand Lead Auctioneer John Bowring (above).

“Both our members and the people of Auckland are well-accustomed to online auctions now – it’s almost second nature – and we’re still seeing outstanding results achieved for our vendors.”

The highlight came in Onehunga as Ray White Royal Oak Principal Rohan Thompson and Salesperson James Burry sold 48 Heretaunga Avenue (above) for NZ$1,100,000 – NZ$75,000 over CV.

“Given the Alert Level 3 restrictions we have to abide by, this was an excellent result for our vendors, as two bidders competed to drive the price beyond the CV,” Mr Thompson said.

“I have to pay tribute to the whole team for going the extra mile for our clients during these more difficult times and for giving vendors the confidence to still sell under the hammer.”

There was another great result in Greenlane, as Ray White One Tree Hill Sales Agents Martin Honey and Ben Bibby sold 159A Campbell Road (above) for NZ$1,065,000.

“To be able to pivot back to private inspections pretty much over night and to keep interest hot in this property right up until auction day was a real achievement for the team,” Mr Honey said.

“We had three competing online bidders for the four-bedroom, one bathroom home that was built by the original owners in 1958, and you can tell auction appetite is still very much there.”
