For the third consecutive year, Ray White Remuera salespeople Margaret Simpson and Robin McDowall sponsored the ANZAC Day Open Classic Fours Tournament at Carlton Cornwall Bowls Inc in Epsom.
Margaret and Robin are major sponsors of the club with their involvement also including assisting with the production of the club scorecards and the annual handbook. In addition, Robin is now a member of the club and has thoroughly enjoyed her first year of playing bowls.
The ANZAC Day Open Classic Fours Tournament is a popular annual tournament and this year there were 32 teams with the total of 128 participants representing clubs from throughout the region.
Margaret and Robin were joined by Ray White Remuera’s business owner, Megan Jaffe, for the opening of the tournament on Saturday 23rd April with the opening included the reading of the RSA Ode. The trio stood out on a green (on a matt to protect the lawns) and were given a warm welcome and applauded for their generous sponsorship. The sponsorship included Margaret Simpson and Robin McDowall’s contribution to the tournament’s prize money and Megan Jaffe’s shouting one drink from the bar for each contestant.
Carlton Cornwall is in an idyllic setting adjacent to Cornwall Park, has well-maintained greens, a great club house and has been selected as a venue for the World Masters Games which kick off in Auckland in 2017.
The weather was bright and sunny for the first day of the tournament but the second day needed to be shortened due to the regular showers of rain which were making the greens slippery and unsafe. Regardless, it seems that all the competitors thoroughly enjoyed the event.
