Community – Ray White Raglan Supporting the Annual Mid Winter Swim

Raglan Mid Winter SwimRay White Raglan organised a successful mid – winter swim this year and donated the proceeds to their local Surf Lifesaving Club and the Coast Guard. This year they raised close to $900, with combined contributions from Ray White Raglan, The Chamber of Commerce and crowd donations. This is an annual event which tests the bravery of the participants which included a variety of swimmers from the community in colourful and inventive costumes. Dave and Julie Hanna of Ray White Raglan facilitated this event by getting local businesses contributing to the event, which included the The Chamber of Commerce, Orca, Harbour View Hotel, The Shack and several other businesses, which of course, included Ray White Raglan.

A big thank you goes out to those brave souls who broke the ice and jumped into the harbour. Well done to those that swam to the far side and back! One man went beyond the call of duty and stood in the water so that the swimmers could use him as a marker – a very commendable effort! This year there was a snow machine, various stalls, a kids castle, and a sausage sizzle so that the spectators as well as the swimmers could enjoy this event and contribute to such a worthy cause.

Dave Hanna, Raglan business owner, commented, “My 7 year old grand-daughter was the only child to enter the water and dive in, and of course was rewarded accordingly. Next year will be 10 years since we started this event so watch this space.”
