41 registered buyers for one home breaks Auckland City record

A Ray White record was smashed last night as 41 bidders registered to buy 15 Cardwell Street (pictured above) in Onehunga – the largest number ever recorded for an Auckland City property by Australasia’s leading real estate group.

The renovated 1920’s three-bedroom, two-bathroom home eventually sold under the hammer for NZ$1,750,000 – a huge NZ$525,000 over CV.

“The market is showing absolutely no sign of slowing down whatsoever – to attract a massive 41 registered buyers to a single property is exceptional,” said Ray White New Zealand Lead Auctioneer John Bowring (pictured below), who successfully called the auction last night.

“The in-room was packed and 39 of the 41 registered buyers were actually there looking one another in the eye. But the number of bidders was only half the story – the eventual sale price was also an outstanding result – selling way beyond the CV for our ecstatic vendors.

“It’s of course a wonderful feeling as an auctioneer to break the Ray White record for Auckland City, but it’s an even bigger indication that now really is the time to be selling your home.”

The sale of 15 Cardwell Street in Onehunga was successfully managed by Ray White Royal Oak Principal Rohan Thompson and Salesperson James Burry.

“The campaign was absolutely exceptional with more than 200 inspections from 161 groups – with the successful buyer being a down-sizer. The competition for property seems to be as strong as ever – the fact it was record-breaking speaks for itself,” Mr Thompson said.

“This result is real, tangible evidence that the time to be selling is now. The majority of auction listings are attracting multiple buyers and smashing CVs. What are you waiting for?”

“The property attracted pretty much every type of buyer from families and couples, through to singles and investors/landlords, so this one really did hit the sweet spot,” Mr Burry said.

“Almost lost in the theatre of 15 Cardwell Street is the fact we also sold 5E Puka Street, also in Onehunga, for NZ$1,175,000 – NZ$125,000 over CV. Another great result for our vendors.”
